In true South African fashion Style and Craft are masterful at building the lapa!
Studies suggest that children that grow up in households without Lapas struggle to grasp the concept of South African culture in adulthood. Ok you caught us, we’re just kidding but that’s not to say the lapa doesn’t form an important part of true South African culture. Many of us will have memories derived from under a lapa. Be it poolside, watching sporting events, be it a pub or resort, they’re quite simply cool and breath-taking additions to any piece of land. Traditionally the lapa consists of a thatched roof supported by wooden poles making it perfect for climates that require a cool shaded entertainment area. The lapa is commonly used in open or semi open entertainment areas and its design is very well suited to the African environment and climate. Lapas go exceptionally well in the wild too, few things are more relaxing than having the cool breeze caress your skin lying under the safety of a lapa on a game reserve. Oh, and of course we have to mention that cool beverage glistening as the light hits it!
